Which SharePoint Server should I install Workflow Manager?

I have a SharePoint 2016 farm with 4 SharePoint server 2 for web frontend and 2 for applications, I want to install Workflow Manager but I don't know Which SharePoint Server should I install Workflow Manager?

Should I install the Workflow Manager on SharePoint Web Server or SharePoint Application Server?

SharePoint Workflow Manager Deployment

You have two options to configure Workflow Manager in SharePoint 2019/2016:

1. A part of the SharePoint farm and the communication occurs by using HTTP or HTTPs.
2. A separate workflow manager farm that must consist of 1 server or 3 servers and the communication occurs by using HTTP or HTTPs.

Should I install the Workflow Manager on SharePoint Web Server or SharePoint Application Server?

In your case, you have decided to install and configure the Workflow Manager as a part of SharePoint Farm deployment, so

• It doesn’t matter to install the workflow manager on the SharePoint WFE Servers or App Servers.
• For me, I would prefer to install the Workflow Manager on one of the App Servers and install the Workflow Manager Client on all other SharePoint Servers.
