As an IT administrator responsible for automating business processes across multiple departments such as HR, Finance, and Operations. I’ve created and deployed many flows to handle things like onboarding, approvals, and reporting.

Since these flows are under my account and often shared with others, I’m starting to wonder:

  • Is there a maximum number of flows I can create or own in my Power Automate environment?
  • Will reaching that limit cause any performance issues or affect access to existing flows? Also, does this limit differ between the free and paid plans?

Maximum number of flows a user can create and own in Power Automate?

Each user in Power Automate can create and own up to 600 flows across their environments.

This limit applies to both free and paid plans, including Microsoft 365 and Power Automate Premium licenses. It refers to flows you personally own, not flows you have access to or are shared with you.

Here are a few key points to consider:

  • Flows shared with you but owned by someone else do not count toward your personal limit.

  • Using Solutions in the Power Platform is a best practice for managing large numbers of flows, especially in enterprise scenarios, as it provides better lifecycle management and deployment capabilities.

  • Hitting this limit doesn’t directly degrade performance, but managing hundreds of flows manually can become difficult. Using naming conventions, folders, and environments can help organize them efficiently.

  • If you're regularly creating a high number of flows, it's recommended to move to a paid plan to unlock other premium features like higher request limits, premium connectors, and access to Dataverse.
